From Lhasa to San Francisco

It takes an airplane less than twenty hours to fly from Lhasa to San Francisco, but it takes years to switch the cultural modes from familiarity to strangeness, then you reach a point where you start to embrace the diversity and homogeneity of all human beings. However, the most challenging part of this transition is neither about the 11743 km distance between the two cities nor about overcoming the clash between the ancient civilization where we came from and the modern civilization we are walking into, the real struggle is about remembering who we are and where we came from. It becomes even more thought provoking when it comes to building a strong cultural identity for our next generation while encouraging them to acknowledge themselves as global citizens. One of the many things we agreed was the importance of introducing native culture in early childhood and building a strong cultural foundation as they grow up. We believe children's ability for language acquisition and cultural adaptation can be effectively strengthened by introducing culturally relevant resources and age appropriate tools during infancy and toddlerhood. Language and symbols as important elements of any culture, they serve the best purposes in the process of building cultural awareness and capacity. It is a widely accepted theory that children learn faster when actively playing as opposed to passively receiving information in a structured setting. We created our brand "གསོན་"(means "live") and products based on above thoughts, we hope our efforts can make your children's playtime a more rewarding experience! we hope all the parents and children who are interested in Tibetan culture find our products meaningful and fun.
